Preschool Educator

Type: Full Time

Placement: Preschool (Northstar Yearly Years). Exact grade and domain/subject placement will be determined after appointment.

Description:

We are a Preschool to Grade 9 school in the city of Rajkot (Gujarat, India) founded by Harvard alums. Our unique pedagogy, the Northstar Approach, is a research-based approach to learning and teaching that helps students achieve their highest potential by exploring and making discoveries about themselves and their world. We are currently looking for passionate educators to join our Preschool team.

 

Responsibilities:

Early Years/Preschool Educators are expected to:

  1. Develop and use instructional materials suitable for 2 to 6-year-old learners with varying degrees of mental, physical, and emotional of maturities.
  2. Provide learning experiences in language arts, math, physical education, art, role-play, dance, music, health, and other areas as suited to the needs of learners.
  3. Develop in each student an awareness of himself/herself as an individual and his/her role in the family and community.
  4. Provide individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs of the learners.
  5. Plan, develop and organize activities for parents to promote parent participation and involvement in educational activities provided for their children.
  6. Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of students’ work.
  7. Observe, record and assess children on the learning development, progress and attainment.
  8. Co-operate and support colleagues as a team in planning, preparing and developing curriculum and lesson plans.
  9. Plan, organize and implement various school events and functions.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree (any field) as well as strong English communication and inter-personal skills. Knowledge about child development and relevant experience working with children is a plus.

Elementary/Primary School Educator

Type: Full Time

Description:

We are a Preschool to Grade 12 school in the city of Rajkot (Gujarat) founded by Harvard alums. 4) Develop and implement relevant assessments for both formative and summative evaluations as well as for uncovering student’s potential initial misconceptions.

5) Keep parents informed about student progress and attend parent meetings.

6) Be a champion and disseminator of the Northstar Approach inside and outside the school.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant discipline. Prior experience in teaching at progressive organisations is beneficial.

Middle School Educator

Type: Full Time

FELLOWSHIP/INTERNSHIP/COURSEWORK PROJECTS

Fellowship

Joining a Northstar Fellowship might be right for you if you are looking to apply your skills in a progressive and experimental setup in a time bound manner. Fellowship at Northstar may be a good fit for you, if you have some experience in your field or have graduated from a reputed university (our last fellow was a Harvard grad).
Duration: One term – Fall term (June to October) or Spring Term (November to April)

We are currently offering the below mentioned fellowships:

  • Art Educator Fellowship: As an Art Educator Fellow you are expected to:
    • Actively advocate and demonstrate the affordances of art to colleagues, students and parents through presentations, frequent workshops during PD and general enthusiasm
    • Collaborate with educators to integrate arts into the planning of both disciplinary and interdisciplinary lesson units
    • Co-teach and/or lead Exploration lessons
    • Design and lead separate visual and performing art lessons
    • Seek personal growth by soliciting our support and guidance in helping you reach your personal goals
  • Instructional Design Fellowship: As an Instructional Design Fellow:
    • You will work with school management (founders, principal and leaders) to support and develop school processes and systems in areas such as collaborative planning, experiential learning design, school events and professional development.
    • You will work with educators to design and implement learning experiences, with a special focus on our flagship 6-week interdisciplinary Explorations Program.

Internship

Joining a Northstar Internship might be right for you if you are seeking to learn and grow in a progressive and experimental setup in a time bound manner. We accept interns who require to complete an internship for their degree requirements. The internship work profile is mutually designed with the school team and the candidate.
